I Sink Deep

I Sink Deep

Treading slowly
Led limbs
Water creeps up
Needles prick my skin
My throat
Suffocating me

I sink deep

Abyss
Time
Goes on
Pulling
Me
Down
Until
I am

Nothing

I rise
Faster lighter
Water grazes my skin
Like smooth silk
Brushing against my face
Loving hands pulling me up
Eyes slowly open
To a warm light
Free

I Rise

Living a life of faith is not easy... and I feel like we do not talk about that enough or the suffering that comes before the glory of it.  I remember the moment I first felt God calling me to lead a life of holiness and righteousness before Him; it was then that a particular scripture was heavily put on my heart, Matthew 16:25. You Restore Everything; A Reflection of The Year

Riding on the bus back from the hotel that I just spent New Years with my sisters in, I could not help but feel a kind of nervousness as I made my way back to my uncle's. So much flooded my mind like; where was I going to go in three days? I had to leave my uncle's on the fourth but I did not have anywhere lined up to stay. I felt like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I whispered to God underneath my breath, "You told me to stay here and I don't feel the release yet to go back to Canada, so what next"? I told myself that I will stand boldly on faith even if that meant I might end up in the streets. However, I knew that was not likely because my Father would not allow that to happen, it was against His character. Calling me to stay, I knew that He would not leave me stranded but would make a way for me. Galatians 5:13-15 " For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.  For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  But if ye bite and devour one another, take head that ye be not consumed by one another." I started my blog with this scripture because it really puts in perspective the current events of racial tension and police brutality against the black community, which has not started and will probably not end with the injustice and inhumane death of George Floyd and every black man or woman that has been wrongly killed.  Freedom is but an illusion in this world. Freedom is abused in this society. Where was the freedom when a man's last breath was taken from him? When is it right to take someone's life into your own hands?
